Pitch Perfect 2 Review

The sequel  to surprise hit Pitch Perfect has hit cinemas and it is one that stands up as good as the first, now being directed by Elizabeth Banks. Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) and the Barden Bellas are in their senior year of college, three time winners of the National Championships but due to an unfortunate incident are banned from performing in collegiate A Capella. To gain back their reputation and super power status as the Barden Bellas, they enter into the world tournament – though unlikely to win as everyone ‘hates the U.S.’

Unfortunately the Bellas are up against the formidable European group Das Sound Machine led by Kommissar (Birgitte Hjort) and Pieter (Flula Borg) who are very hard to beat. This inevitably causes hilarity, especially with Beca crushing on Kommissar (she smells like cinnamon).

Pitch Perfect 2 packs in as many brilliant A Capella covers of pop hits as the first but with a unique twist for the final song. The film also features a few more romances, with great comic effect, like Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) in a boat. New cast member also finds love and adds to the dynamic of these awesome nerds.

So with another kickass soundtrack (listening to it as I write this) and brilliant comedy, Pitch Perfect 2 is another musical hit, with many laugh out loud moments. Bring on number 3 A Ca-Bitches!

About Monica Jowett

I am a graduate of the University of South Wales, where I studied Film Studies. I write reviews and articles for my own blog and other sites, and spend a lot of my time living and breathing all things film related. I love films and TV. I avoid horror as I am a little too jumpy, but do have an unashamed love for soppy chick-flicks.
