‘Lava’ Pixar Short

The new Pixar film Inside Out (Dir. Peter Docter), like all Pixar films was preceded by the latest short film Lava. As I sat in the packed out cinema screen I remembered the Pixar tradition of having their little shorts before the main feature, which has been the case since the studio started making films. I have enjoyed many of the previous ones, Night and Day, The Blue Umbrella and La Luna to name a few.

Once again, Pixar have created a lovely short film, about two volcanoes looking for love, the story spanning years but shown in a seven minute clip. The whole film is a musical, sung by Kuana Torres Kahele and is uplifting and whimsical in the way that only Pixar can do it.

About Monica Jowett

I am a graduate of the University of South Wales, where I studied Film Studies. I write reviews and articles for my own blog and other sites, and spend a lot of my time living and breathing all things film related. I love films and TV. I avoid horror as I am a little too jumpy, but do have an unashamed love for soppy chick-flicks.
