Awesome Music Videos (In My Opinion) Pt. 2

Eminem in 'Just Lose It'

Eminem in ‘Just Lose It’

Part two of my favourite (awesome) music videos. The list was previously a bit longer, but I sadly had to cut some out. The ones mentioned here are not by my favourite bands, but I like the songs and I like the videos. There are so many more amazing videos, please feel free to let me know your favourites in the comments.

Taylor Swift – You Belong With Me

Taylor Swift’s music seems to be difficult to dislike. Catchy tunes, songs you can belt out at the top of your voice, and those you can just dance along to. Her music videos are pretty great to; stylish, artistic and quite often lots of fun. My personal favourite, simply because it plays like a cute teen romance film that I would enjoy watching a feature length version of, is You Belong With Me.

Eminem – Just Lose It/My Name Is

Another music star who seems to be able to easily poke fun at himself, Eminem has made some great music videos over the years. My favourites have to be Just Lose It and My Name Is, both directed by Philip Atwell. They parody and spoof well known performers, TV and films and you can see the funny side of Eminem.

Fatboy Slim – Weapon of Choice

What’s better than Christopher Walken? Christopher Dancing. The brilliant music from English DJ Fatboy Slim is always so good to dance to. With so many music videos of people dancing, with dance king Sam Rockwell having a go in Flight Facilities ‘Down to Earth’ but nothing beats Christopher Walken dancing, looking like he dances the same way he talks.

a-ha – Take On Me

Though I am not a fan of Aha, I love this music video and the song. Everything about the video is so eighties, the hair, clothes and setting and theme. Combining live action and sketch animation in a rotoscoping technique the video took 16 weeks to complete, and the result is very cool.

Blink 182 – All The Small Things

Made as a song for the radio the pop punk band’s All the Small Things is catchy and one of their most popular songs. The music video parodies boy bands and their cheesy dance moves of the nineties like ‘N Sync and the Backstreet Boys as they dress in matching outfits, do silly dancing and wink and blow kisses at the camera. Great tune and a good video.

About Monica Jowett

I am a graduate of the University of South Wales, where I studied Film Studies. I write reviews and articles for my own blog and other sites, and spend a lot of my time living and breathing all things film related. I love films and TV. I avoid horror as I am a little too jumpy, but do have an unashamed love for soppy chick-flicks.
